Local Vineyard wins prestigious award in Austria

North Mountain’s 2013 Zweigelt earned silver at AWC Vienna, the world’s largest officially recognized wine competition, judged in Zweigelt’s Austrian homeland.
Zweigelt is known for its refreshing, uplifting acidity and low tannins. A light-medium bodied wine with notes of currant, raspberry, and a pleasing aroma of herbaceous sage throughout.
North Mountain Vineyards “Sonnenberg” (Sunny Hill) Terroir, climate and gently rolling slopes proved to be conducive for cultivating this grape under the careful guidance of vineyard manager Brad Foster. The talented winemaker, John Jackson, a geologist and early student of Jim Law of Linden Vineyards, brought this wine to its fruition and winning stage by aging it in French Oak.
This wine is currently available for tasting and purchase at the Vineyard Wednesdays through Sundays.
