The name Grüner Veltliner (“grooh-ner VELT-leehn-er”) can be difficult to pronounce, so it is sometimes referred to as Grüner. Grüner Veltliner translates to “Green Wine of Veltlin”. Veltlin was an area in the lower Alps during the 1600’s that is now part of Valtellina, Italy. However, now, with 75% of all Grüner Veltliner in the world planted in Austria, it is the signature grape of Austria.
At our winery, we have 2 vintages of Grüner available. Our 2019 vintage has a spicy and complex body with stone fruit on the nose and a zesty finish with hints of sage and white pepper.
Our 2021 vintage opens with subtle notes of tropical fruits and finishes with a softness enhanced by light hints of sage.
